Do Anglie po stopách krále Artuše

Na začátek nového školního roku připravila sekce anglického jazyka Jazykového gymnázia Pavla Tigrida ve spolupráci s CK Školní zájezdy tradiční studijně-vzdělávací zájezd. Tentokrát jsme ve dnech 8.–15. 9. 2018 vyrazili do jižní Anglie po stopách krále Artuše a osádku tvořilo 41 studentů pod vedením tří učitelů a jedné asistentky učitele, Marissy Shapiro, která bude po celý školní rok 2018/19 na naší škole působit v rámci Fulbrightova programu. Dle ohlasů a velké radosti všech se zájezd i letos vydařil. Studenti se nejen dozvěděli spoustu zajímavostí o historii a památkách jižní Anglie a byli uchváceni nádherou mořských útesů oblasti Cornwall, ale hlavně pobytem v hostitelských rodinách procvičili angličtinu, navázali nová přátelství a získali zkušenosti, které jim ani ta nejlepší učebnice nemůže nabídnout.

I had a fantastic time on the trip to England. It was especially novel to drive through so many countries on our way to England and to experience the Eurotunnel (the route between France and England). I really enjoyed our beautiful day in Bruges and climbing to the top of the Belfry of Bruges. Although I loved every place we saw in England, the highlights for me were hiking up to the top of Tintagel Castle and staying with the host families. The coastline of England is absolutely gorgeous and overlooking the ocean as we climbed all of the steps together was particularly memorable. This week was a true cultural exchange for me - I doubt many Americans have gotten to sit around the dinner table of a British family with Czech friends and colleagues. The trip taught me a lot about British history and geography. I learned a lot of this new information from the students, who gave excellent presentations in English about each of the places that we visited. In addition to learning a lot, I got to know the students better and appreciated the bonding time with my fellow teachers. The trip was an amazing welcome to Jazykové gymnázium Pavla Tigrida and the English department!
