Dice

... or a clasmate tells you, an expert advises you

When did it originate and what is it?

In the 2018-2019 school year, the KOSTKY, or DICE project supported by the Moravian-Silesian Region started its journey. Thanks to active pupils, the project aimed at the prevention of bullying, stress and cyberbullying continues successfully today. So the dice are still rolling and the aim of this project remains that selected manifestations of risky behaviour are addressed at the pupil-pupil level.

Also, have you seen the DICE sign somewhere on campus but still don't know exactly what it means?

So let me enlighten you. KOSTKY is a long-term school project organised by Lenka Žvaková and Jana Tomalová, who are always there for you. We focus on three critical topics that a large number of young people are struggling with today: Smoking, STress, KYberbullying.

Does that mean anything to you?

The students themselves prepare a program for new students that will help you and teach you many new things.

The project is interesting because the pupils who have been trained (AZ HELP organization, etc.) help the pupils themselves. Those who learn something about the issue from the experts also learn how to pass on their knowledge to their peers or how to help them. They all build their self-confidence, learn to be responsible, solid and also helpful and empathetic. As helpers, on the other hand, they gain the skill of being open, they learn trust and also how not to be afraid or shy and to ask for help when we need it.

One valuable asset is that the students themselves came up with the idea to continue the prevention activities for their classmates in the next school years.

DICE and their history in the 2018-2019 school year

Smoking - STress - KYberbullying

Students teaching students... Thanks to a year-long JGPT project supported by the Moravian-Silesian Region, nearly twenty students were able to train and become teacher-lecturers for a year. Twenty students from the 1st and 2nd year went through training and discussions with experts. Under the guidance of the lecturer Hana Freiwaldová from the AZ HELP Ostrava organisation, these students went on to prepare seminars and workshops for their classmates. The experts who offered their knowledge and expertise to the students are renowned experts in their fields. They divided up the topics, which the name of the project suggests:

Smoking. Patricia Popelková, Ph.D., Pulmonary Department, FNO

Stress: doc. Dr. Ing. Jan Libich, University Teacher, VŠB-TUO and University of Melbourne;Cyberbullying: PhDr. Roman Pačka (graduate of JGPT) and Mgr. Prof. Kateřina Hábová from the National Office for Cyber and Information Security.A big thank you to AZ HELP in Ostrava, the excellent lecturer Hana Freiwaldova and all the students involved!!! A valuable asset is that the students themselves came up with the idea to continue the prevention activities for their classmates in the next school years.

CHEERS TO THE DICE!!!
